At Bärghuis Schönbüel, you are much closer to the mountains.Whether inside behind the large panoramic windows or outside on the sun terrace;the fabulous mountain world with the striking peaksof Central Switzerland and the Bernese Oberland seem close enough to touch.
Dining
We place great value on regionality, quality, and genuine craftsmanship. Whenever possible, we use regional products and prepare our dishes with joy and care—entirely in the style of traditional cuisine. We strictly avoid convenience products, flavor enhancers, and artificial ingredients.
Our menu is inspired by the character of a mountain lodge: honest, hearty, and authentic. Whether for lunch or in the evening—here you can enjoy freshly prepared dishes in a cozy atmosphere. Despite higher costs for sourcing and logistics, we consciously keep our prices fair and family-friendly.

Our lunch menu is down-to-earth and typical for a mountain lodge. Look forward to classics like Älplermagronen (Alpine macaroni), homemade Rösti, fine soups, or cold platters—all freshly prepared with love.
In the evening, we treat our overnight guests to a small, seasonal à la carte menu. The focus is on regional ingredients and a variety of dishes that provide a delightful end to the day.
Quality is our top priority—from sourcing to the finished dish. While regional products and careful processing involve higher costs, we deliberately keep our margins tight.
This allows us to offer our guests a fair price-performance ratio and create an offering that remains attractive for families. Our food selection is complemented by a matching choice of drinks to round off the culinary experience.
Overnight Stays at Bärghuis Schönbüel
Anyone traveling in the mountains knows how wonderful it is to spot the silhouette of a mountain lodge from afar, marking the completion of the first (or another) stage of a hike. The anticipation of almost being there, imagining the taste of a thirst-quenching drink, a warm meal, and the relaxation of a cozy bed far away from the valley—it's wonderful! It's even better when you are warmly greeted by someone who shares your love for hiking. For ecological reasons, we have implemented a system change: except for the pillowcase, we do not change the bed linen after every stay. Bring your own sleeping bag liner and receive a discount of CHF 5.If you don't have a liner, we are happy to rent one to you. The environment and the next generation will thank you.
